Elkhart planning commission elects Schaefer president; approves new addresses for Clayton, Homer Avenue subdivision and lift station

Commissioner Schaefer was nominated and, following a motion to close nominations, was elected by roll call vote to serve as the permanent president going forward. During the roll call, Commissioners Osborne, Beecher, Lawson, Newbill, Mishler and Schaefer cast affirmative votes; Mishler recorded his vote as "Aye" and Schaefer said, "Reluctantly, yes." The commission also amended the meeting agenda to replace the prior president’s name with Schaefer’s.
Later in the meeting the commission approved proposed addresses submitted by the City of Elkhart Planning and Zoning Department. Staff said the assignments included one residential address on Clayton, addresses in the Homer Avenue subdivision (details not read aloud in full), and one commercial address on East Mishawaka Road for a new lift station. Commissioner Mishler moved to approve the addresses; Commissioner Osborne seconded. The commission approved the motion by roll call vote.
The meeting otherwise was procedural: commissioners approved the amended agenda, handled the PUD minor amendment for 4430 Eastland Drive, and then adjourned.
