Board approves bike-route waiver, kids day restroom use and other event permits

The Dubois County Board of Commissioners approved permits and waivers for two community events and handled several routine administrative requests on Aug. 18.
The board approved the Dubois Summerfest bike route and registration contingent on two items: the event organizers must add Dubois County to their waiver language and work with the county highway department to ensure traffic-control and signage arrangements. Commissioners voted in favor after staff confirmed the event would use county roads but not state highways; the organizers were advised to contact state authorities if their route crosses state roads.
Separately, the commissioners approved a request to open courthouse restrooms for the annual Kids Day event on Saturday, Sept. 27, authorizing access from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and asking organizers to coordinate with building custodial staff for setup and teardown.
Commissioners also handled routine approvals for temporary signage and other small permits and reminded organizers that county staff can provide slow/children signs but cannot grant permission for closures on state highways.
Both approvals passed by unanimous voice votes.
