The La Porte Common Council voted Aug. 18 to approve a resolution authorizing multiple transfers within the city's 2025 budgets to cover essential services and obligations.
The transfers listed in the resolution included a General Fund (code enforcement) reallocation moving $14,500 into salaries, among other line-item adjustments. The clerk-treasurer told council members that she had added departmental requests to the council packet and reminded members that budgets are estimates that commonly require intra-year transfers.
Other transfers in the resolution moved monies between operating-supplies and repairs/maintenance line items in the local roads and streets budget; the clerk-treasurer said the changes reflect current year needs. Councilors moved to approve the resolution by voice vote and the measure passed.
Council members did not amend the resolution during the meeting; the clerk-treasurer said she would answer follow-up questions as needed.
