Imperial County Assessor Robert Minville told the Board of Supervisors on Aug. 19 that the county’s 2025 assessment roll increased about 7.9% over the prior year to just over $18 billion after exemptions. Minville said that, among California’s 58 counties, Imperial had the highest percentage increase in assessed value for the reporting period.
Minville noted that in the ten years he has served as assessor, the roll has risen from about $11 billion to roughly $18 billion. He compared Imperial’s growth to neighboring Riverside County, which he said had a 6.18% increase and a higher total roll value.
Minville said the last time the county saw a similar percentage increase was for the 2008 assessment roll and cautioned that large increases in assessed value have sometimes been followed by negative growth in past business cycles. He said staff are preparing more detailed statistics and would provide further reports to the board.
