Christina told commissioners that when the former auditor left and the office experienced turnover, record-retention and filing were deprioritized, leaving the vault disorganized. The temporary staff would work during normal business hours so they could ask questions while organizing files and prioritize documents from 2023 and 2024 that auditors require.
Commission discussion was short; one commissioner noted the auditor’s office has been short-staffed and that completing the vault work quickly would help move outstanding audits forward. A motion to approve up to three positions at the rate discussed carried on a roll call vote with all commissioners voting yes.
