Commission approves multiple procurement actions: routers, camera work, surveillance, concrete joint sealing and fleet maintenance

Cole County commissioners approved several procurement and contract actions during the meeting, covering IT equipment, security systems and maintenance work.

Routers: the commission approved two router replacements from Hubert & Associates for the Health Department and Public Works, two separate purchases at $7,218.72 each, citing end-of-life network equipment and the need to maintain departmental communications.

Health Department camera repairs: county staff reported interior and exterior security cameras at the Health Department were not functioning (one exterior camera filled with water). The commission approved a proposal from the county security contractor (Precision/Security LLC) to replace four interior cameras and the failed exterior camera; county staff requested payment from contingency because no budget line covered the work.

Video surveillance system enhancement: the commission awarded the video-surveillance enhancement for the Annex, Courthouse, Carnegie and Maintenance Building to Midmo Telecom and Security for $230,500, including a $3,000 trade-in credit for old equipment. Commissioners noted the vendor's lower multi-year maintenance costs compared with an alternate bidder.

Concrete joint sealing: the commission awarded the 2025 concrete joint-sealing contract to Sweet and Sealing Services LLC for $76,453.96. Public Works said the work will seal joints on repaired concrete streets to prevent water infiltration and extend pavement life; the bid covers about 19.3 miles of centerline linear feet.

Fleet maintenance: the commission approved a multiple-vendor award for sheriff's fleet maintenance (2025-26) to Donnie Braun & Sons and Big O Tires following a multi-vendor bid process. Contracts were presented for signature.

Votes: for each item above commissioners moved, seconded and voted in favor by voice vote. Staff said funding sources vary by item (department IT/computerization funds, contingency for emergency camera repairs, sales-tax/computerization fund for routers, and public-works pavement funds for joint sealing).
