Lake County commissioners enter executive session on potential property purchase, make no decisions

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners held a special meeting Aug. 12 and voted to enter an executive session to consider the possible purchase of real property, review due diligence and develop negotiation strategy under Colorado law. The board later reported that no decisions were made during the closed session.

County Manager Candace Bryant, County Attorney Chris Floyd and Water Resource Director Bryce Ehrlich were present when the board moved into executive session to discuss the matter under the Colorado Revised Statutes sections cited during the meeting (CRS 24-6-402(4)(a), (e) and (b)). Commissioners listed as present were Commissioner Fark, Commissioner Bullock and Commissioner Lee.

The meeting opened with a brief calendar review led by Sandra Perez. After the calendar review, a motion was made and seconded to go into executive session; the motion passed with three affirmative votes. The board resumed open session at 11:52 a.m., and the public record notes that no decisions resulted from the executive session.

The board did not provide details in open session about the specific property under consideration, the seller, a purchase price or any next steps beyond the statement on the record that no decisions were reached during the executive session. The meeting concluded after the board exited executive session and confirmed there had been no formal action taken while closed to the public.

The board's next regularly scheduled meeting was noted on the calendar for Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; other calendar items reviewed included a conservation district meeting and community events.
