City parks department requests emergency funding for collapsed vault at Hanover Square

Saisha Burke, Commissioner of Parks, said the Hanover Square vault “collapsed” and described the repair as an emergency. Burke told councilors the department has “only cash capital for $35,000 for art” and not enough unallocated cash capital to cover the vault repair, which is why the department was requesting the additional funding.
A councilor pressed whether the department sought local vendors to do the work. Burke said she could provide that information and that crews have been working on the site. Councilors said they would schedule a committee meeting for further discussion of parks capital priorities and vendor sourcing.
The council agreed to set a committee meeting for follow up; no formal appropriation was made in the study session.
