Justice Center update: project at about 52% complete; courthouse renovation design reaches 50% milestone

John Hernandez, county engineer, said structural observation reports from the project's structural subconsultant did not note outstanding issues and that mechanical, electrical and plumbing work on upper floors is on the project's critical path. Hernandez said the second‑floor MEP work should be completed by mid‑August, with third‑floor MEP work following in mid‑September, and that the project remains on track for completion in late spring/early summer of the projected completion year.
Hernandez also reported progress on the courthouse renovation design (phase 2). BRW Architects is delivering approximately 50% complete design documents in coming weeks. Mechanical/plumbing subconsultant Guerra Engineering will perform field visits around Aug. 19 to coordinate systems for the courthouse and the Justice Center. The county thanked department heads who participated in design coordination and said interior signage planning for the Justice Center will begin soon, led by a county coordinator.
No formal action was taken; the update was delivered for informational purposes and to record schedule milestones and upcoming coordination tasks.
