Midland ISD board approves 2025–26 district improvement plan

The Midland Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously on July 29 to approve the district improvement plan for the 2025–26 school year. The plan outlines measurable performance objectives aligned with the board’s adopted long-range goals and lists strategies the district will implement to meet those objectives.
Miss Bueno, who presented the DIP, described the plan as a “blueprint for continuous improvement” grounded in a comprehensive needs assessment using five years of data, disaggregated by student groups. She said the plan uses SMART performance objectives and that strategies will be updated quarterly as new data and feedback are collected. The district will bring baseline metrics and updates as they become available.
Board members asked for clarification about which parts of the DIP require future board approval. Administration said the board is being asked to approve the goals and performance objectives; operational strategies are implemented and adjusted administratively and will be reported back to the board as needed. Trustees approved the recommendation to adopt the goals and performance objectives and noted that some objectives requiring baseline measures would be presented later when data are available.
The approval was taken by motion, second and a unanimous hand vote. The board directed the administration to post the approved district improvement plan where required and to return with campus-level plans in the coming month for campuses rated below a B.
