Board approves MOAs with City of Hobbs, budget adjustments and multiple policy advisories

The board approved a memorandum of agreement to allow Hauser (Hauser High School) football to practice at Hauser Park while their practice field is under repair. The agreement includes district coordination to transport equipment between the school and the park. The board also approved a separate annual agreement with the City of Hobbs to coordinate middle‑school athletics for sixth‑ and seventh‑grade participants.
On finance matters, the board approved expenditures and investments and accepted two budget adjustment requests (BARs). The first BAR reduces the GLB library fund revenue by $107,728.62 per a Capital Outlay Bureau requirement related to reallocated carryover funds. The second BAR establishes an initial $16,000 budget for the Graduation Reality and Dual Growth Skills program to support expectant and parenting students.
The board also approved third readings of policy advisories 263, 264, 265, 266, 268, and 269, which the superintendent said had been presented at June and July meetings and would be integrated into district policy by the New Mexico School Board Association policy service. The superintendent noted the district was already operating under most advisories and would implement advisory 269 (parental guidance for water safety) before the end of the school year.
Routine motions to approve the meeting agenda (with a correction to item 6b) and the July 15, 2025 minutes also passed by voice vote.
