Lake Elmo EDA reviews work plan: new website, property viewer, chamber outreach

City staff updated the Lake Elmo Economic Development Authority on work-plan items including a recently launched website, a planned property viewer with GIS functionality, regional chamber outreach, and timing for a 180-acre RFP.
Staff said the city recently moved content to a new site and will continue improving its community development page. The new site will include a GIS module and an interactive development map that links individual projects to meeting documents and approvals. Staff added the property viewer will show zoning, land use, MUSA boundaries and phasing, and will provide more detail than the county viewer; staff said a separate property viewer produced with Boldman Bank will be available in the next month.
EDA members asked about content accuracy and editing. One member said they found a small number of typos and noted that some development summaries — for example, a description for “At Home Apartments” — appeared garbled; staff said the website is a work in progress and identified Kathy as the contact for site issues.
Staff also described outreach to regional business organizations. Lake Elmo staff and the EDA have been working with the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce; staff said Woodbury’s Chamber had also reached out about membership and that regional chambers coordinate events and communications. Staff said they can connect the EDA with ribbon-cutting and leadership events and that an improved community-development map and outreach materials are planned.
On a planning item beyond the immediate horizon, staff said an RFP for a 180-acre site will be a 2026 activity and not completed this year. The new website, property viewer, and other outreach are intended to support prospective developers and make permitting and approvals more transparent.
No formal action was taken on the work-plan update. Staff asked EDA members to submit website issues by email and offered to connect members to chamber resources and leadership programs.
