Bothell unveils updated parks GIS tour and rolls out event sponsorship packet; Halloween plans ahead

Staff demonstrated an updated GIS-based virtual park tour that will appear on the parks website and provide searchable amenities, rental information and historical notes for individual parks. The map allows users to filter by amenities (amphitheater, basketball courts, playgrounds), see historical icons and, on mobile, tap park features for facility details.
Staff said remaining work includes updating photos and minor interface tweaks; the GIS team and parks staff are coordinating to finalize content and deploy the mobile view.
In program funding, staff introduced a sponsorship packet for events and said it launched in September with early interest. Staff reported raising $1,500 for the Halloween event so far and that two sponsors have been confirmed during a soft rollout; staff plan a broader outreach and website publication of the packet in December'January for 2026 events.
Staff previewed community events: trick-or-treat on Main Street is scheduled for Oct. 31 (theme: Jurassic Park this year). Staff said they estimated "over 3,000" trick-or-treaters last year but did not provide a precise headcount.
