The Placer Union High School District Board of Trustees adopted a new superintendent evaluation tool and a short statement of board expectations and priorities for the district.
Trustees said the evaluation instrument is designed to be transparent and consistent. It sets a calendar for goal-setting in June, an October review of progress, a midyear review in January, an April quarterly check-in, and the annual June review and goal-setting cycle. Trustees said the form is streamlined compared with previous approaches and will be shared publicly so the community understands board criteria and timelines.
The board also approved a brief expectations statement to lead the district: trustees agreed to change language proposed as "well-rounded education" to "comprehensive education" and adopted the document unanimously. The expectations emphasize "exceptional teaching and learning," college- and career-readiness, safe and supportive schools, and transparency and accountability in governance.
Trustees said the public-facing tool and expectations will help the board give clearer feedback, align evaluation to strategic priorities and provide a predictable annual cycle for reviewing the superintendent's performance.
