Council approves application to Superfund redevelopment fund to repaint Clark Chateau exterior

The Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners voted to concur with a request from the Clark Chateau administration to apply for $18,180 through the Superfund Advisory and Redevelopment Trust Authority (SARTA) to paint exterior windows, fascia and soffits (communication 2025-512).
Eric Hasler, director of the Department of Reclamation, told the council the proposed work fits within the authority’s 2006 allocation agreement and falls under the redevelopment/historic-preservation bucket. Hasler cited previous authority-funded projects such as work on the archives and other historic properties as precedent.
Commissioner O’Leary said he supports the preservation work and moved to concur and place the communication on file. Commissioner Shea clarified the action was authorization to apply for the grant, not an award. Commissioner Fisher asked whether council permission is required for an application; Commissioner Thatcher and Director Hasler explained that council authorization is typically sought when matching funds or budget authority may be required.
The motion to concur and place communication 2025-512 on file passed; the application process and any required match or budget authority will be addressed if and when the award is offered.
