The Placer Union High School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt a resolution authorizing temporary interfund transfers for the 2025–26 fiscal year to help manage intra-year cash-flow timing between restricted and unrestricted funds.
At a brief public hearing preceding the action, a staff member described the measure as an ordinary business practice: borrowing from special or restricted funds to cover temporary cash shortfalls during the school year, with requirements that the money be repaid within the year and follow statutory limits and procedures.
The district finance presenter told trustees that transfers are subject to reporting requirements: amounts that are borrowed must be limited, tracked, and repaid within specified timelines. "There's a procedure that has to be followed," the presenter said, noting the transfers cannot be used to circumvent fund restrictions.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about who authorizes expenditures and the waiving of 24-hour notice for agenda changes; staff said waivers are permitted but not automatic. The resolution was adopted by roll-call vote.
Board President Lake and Superintendent O'Malley confirmed the motion passed unanimously. District staff said the action will be used only as needed and that the board will receive reports as transfers occur.
