Commissioners approve Old National Events Plaza maintenance agreement, cap fee pending final budget review

The Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners approved the Old National Events Plaza (ONAP) public facilities maintenance agreement at the Aug. 26 meeting with the agreement made effective Sept. 1, 2025. Dave Richter, representing the Building Authority, presented the item and discussed budget timing.
Commissioners and staff discussed the maintenance fee for the balance of 2025; staff presented a proposed cap and recommended approving the agreement while leaving the precise Article 6 fee subject to final counsel and council review. The board approved the motion to adopt the maintenance agreement with Article 6 to specify the maintenance fee “not to exceed $145,500” for the period Sept. 1–Dec. 31, 2025, and directed counsel and staff to complete final line‑item reconciliation.
Commissioners recorded a unanimous vote to approve the agreement with the not‑to‑exceed cap; staff said any unused funds at year‑end would be returned to the county per the agreement language as drafted.
The board asked staff to place the item on a future agenda once final counsel review and council coordination are complete.
