Mobile County Commission approves slate of contracts, bids and appropriations including Bayfront Park boardwalk and Camellia Square HOME agreement

The Mobile County Commission on a routine vote approved a package of contracts, bid awards, contract amendments and appropriations covering parks, roadwork, wastewater, public safety equipment and local education grants.

The most prominent approvals included awarding the Bayfront Park boardwalk contract to Blade Construction for $1,023,973 and authorizing a HOME agreement of up to $1,500,000 to support construction of a 56-unit senior housing development called Camellia Square in conjunction with the Alabama Housing Finance Authority. The commission also awarded a low bid of $2,528,753 to Persons Services Corporation for an effluent force main extension (Biopatry Wastewater Treatment Facility, phase 1) and approved a $2,528,753 contract authorization for that project.

Other contract actions approved at the meeting included: change orders and contract decreases for security and roofing work (Vision Security Technologies camera-system change order decreased by $21,278.78 to a new total of $465,178.90; Acme Roofing change order decreased the John Archer Agricultural Center and 8 Mile Shopping Center roofing contract by $50,000 to a new total of $441,000); award of a $214,751 contract to Persons Service Corporation for parking-lot lighting at the 8 Mile Shopping…
