The Chilton County Commission voted to set a public hearing during its regular meeting on Aug. 26, 2025, to consider entering an operational agreement with Outbound Power and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Commissioner Perkins moved that the commission "pursuant to section 94 o 1 of the constitution of Alabama" set the public hearing for 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 26 in the commission chambers; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. County attorney Ben Golden and other commissioners discussed publishing notice for the hearing. The commission also authorized the county administrator to publish a newspaper notice in circulation in the county at least seven days before the hearing.
The motion scheduled a public hearing but did not adopt any agreement during the Aug. 12 meeting; the hearing will provide an opportunity for public comment and for commissioners to consider the operational agreement with Outbound Power and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Commissioners directed the county administrator to take any necessary actions to ensure notice is published, and to include associated agenda items when the commission meets on Aug. 26.
