The Columbus Art Commission on Aug. 20 approved an application to expand a permanent sidewalk artwork at 1161 High Street to include additional identities from the LGBTQ+ community.
Commission staff presenter Betsy Penderarm described the request as an expansion of an existing thermoplastic installation that will add symbols representing additional identities and longer representation of the artist’s original design. "The aim of the expansion . . . is to further integrate the LGBTQ plus narrative and to shorten our artistic identity, creating inclusive spaces where all individuals can be themselves reflected in the communities whose creative background," Penderarm said during her presentation.
