Seaside outlines Car Week schedule and Exotics on Broadway changes; Broadway remains free but Fremont will include a paid VIP area

Seaside staff briefed council Aug. 7 on seven Monterey Car Week events scheduled in the city Aug. 11–16, including Exotics on Broadway, Concorso Italiano and several new or expanded gatherings.
Assistant City Manager Dan Maywas said Broadway will be closed from Del Monte to Fremont and Fremont Boulevard will be closed from Clementina to Amador for Exotics on Saturday, Aug. 16. Broadway will remain a free, public four-block car show; the paid portion on Fremont will charge $30 for access to a ticketed hypercar area (children 13 and under free). Exotics organizers expect roughly 25,000 attendees and will donate a portion of paid-ticket proceeds to local nonprofits.
Other events: Classic Porsche (free kickoff on Monday, Aug. 11), Automobilia Collectors Expo (Embassy Suites); a new BMW M Sport event (dealer-hosted, free); the Paddock featuring Radwood at Bayonet Black Horse; and Concorso Italiano and Concorso del Lisonbee. Staff said parking, shuttle routes and signage have been coordinated and that public works has swept and cleaned Broadway planters, pruned trees and installed bird-deterrent spikes in problem areas.
Public-safety planning: Seaside PD will assign six dedicated officers and a sergeant plus a parking team; event security firm Miller Event Management will supply about 40 guards. The fire department will staff an on-site first-aid station and the city will run enhanced video surveillance. A shuttle will loop from Eucalyptus/General Jim to the Broadway event; staff said three 55-passenger buses will be in rotation.
Council members asked staff to make free/paid distinctions clear in promotions, confirm which restaurants and businesses will be open, and improve traffic advisory communications. Staff said they will continue merchant outreach, post message boards and run social-media advisories ahead of the events.
