Committee recommends rezoning downtown blocks to Central Business District

The Cheyenne Public Services Committee recommended that the City Council approve an amendment to the official zoning map to change designated parcels between O'Neil Avenue and Cary Avenue (north of West 19th Street and south of West 20th Street) from P (Public) and MUB (Mixed Use Business) to CBD (Central Business District).
Planning staff member Seth Lloyd told the committee the area around the municipal building and courthouse is already largely CBD to the south and east, and the map amendment would make zoning consistent across the block. Staff said the ordinance passed second reading with no changes and presented no additional modifications at the committee meeting.
No public comment was offered. Committee member Dr. Emmons moved approval; Dr. Aldridge seconded. The committee voted in favor and will forward a recommendation to the full City Council to approve on third and final reading.
Staff said the ordinance is unchanged since second reading and the zoning map amendment primarily formalizes CBD zoning contiguous to existing Central Business District parcels.
