Committee backs revisions to Cheyenne’s weed nuisance ordinance

The Cheyenne Public Services Committee voted to forward to the City Council an ordinance amending Section 8.6.0.05 of the municipal code (weeds as a nuisance) to clarify the code’s application to large-acreage development and certain zones.
Planning staff member Seth Lloyd told the committee the amendment is intended to resolve potential conflicts between the city’s nuisance weeds code and large acreage development in agricultural and business park settings. Lloyd said the item had passed second reading previously and that staff had not revised the ordinance since the last committee meeting.
There were no public comments and no substantive questions from committee members. A motion to approve on third and final reading was moved by Dr. Aldridge and seconded by Dr. Adams; committee members voted in favor and will forward a recommendation to the City Council to approve on third reading.
