Resident alleges harassment by code enforcement; town attorney to investigate

A North Babylon resident told the Town Board on Oct. 8 that code‑enforcement staff and a fire marshal entered her property, posted notices and treated her disrespectfully; the board said it would have the town attorney investigate.
Dr. Natasha L. Coleman, identifying herself as managing member of Mohawk 13 LLC and a Town of Babylon resident, said officials had posted "do not enter" signs on structures at her address and that town staff had visited and placed notices while she was away. She said she had a permit for a telehealth practice and disputed the enforcement actions. "What happened to me and my family is a clear abuse of power," she said.
Supervisor Schaeffer told Dr. Coleman the town would have the town attorney and chief of staff review the matter and take statements from all involved. "Joe's a very good investigator. So if you wouldn't mind just giving Joe your contact information so he could follow‑up with you," the supervisor said, instructing a 30‑day timeline for a report.
The board directed Town Attorney Joe Wilson and Chief of Staff Tom Stay (both named in the meeting) to collect records and statements and to report back to the board. The action was described in the meeting as an administrative review; no enforcement decision or penalty was announced at that time.
