Central School visuals circulated; MSBA vote set for Oct. 29, special town meeting Nov. 10

Members of the Central School Building Committee told the School Committee on Oct. 14 that renderings and outreach materials for the proposed Central School are being distributed to inform residents ahead of a special town meeting on Nov. 10.
Building Committee members said postcards prepared by the owner’s project manager/design architect include a QR code linking to a project website that hosts renderings and a frequently asked questions page. The committee described an outreach schedule that includes parent lunches, town-hall displays, visits to local day-care centers and presentations to civic groups such as the Kiwanis Club and the business expo.
"The MSBA vote, the official vote from the MSBA to approve the part project to go forward is set for October 29," the building committee told the school committee. "So as soon as we have that date, then we'll really be able to confirm the exact cost of the project, and the tax implications." The building committee said it plans additional public meetings and that visuals and the project website are intended to ensure residents are informed before the November meeting.
Committee members said they will make the building-committee materials available at town hall and at public events and will present to civic groups leading up to the Nov. 10 special town meeting. The Building Committee offered to present to any local group that requests a briefing; members also referenced a plan to have a presence at Veterans Day and other community events.
No formal vote by the School Committee was taken on the building project at the Oct. 14 meeting; committee members encouraged continued outreach and requested that the building committee supply updated cost and tax estimates after the MSBA decision.
