The Chickasha Public Schools Board approved a budget revision that incorporates final expense totals, updated fund balances and revised revenue estimates for the upcoming year.
Jennifer, the district’s finance presenter, reviewed year‑end actuals for the 2024–25 school year and explained the administration’s conservative approach to budgeting for 2025–26. She noted fund balance increases from revenues that arrived late in the fiscal year and cautioned that some prior-year purchase orders were closed and reissued, which can distort comparative fund-balance figures.
Why it matters: the district’s budget outlook depends in part on federal grant flows that have been variable since ESSER funds began in 2021. Jennifer said several federal programs, including ESSER-related allocations and certain grant codes (for example, the 4100 series for Indian education), have fluctuated and that she planned to monitor trends closely and return to the board if further budget amendments are needed.
Board members asked about gross production and revenue trends; Jennifer said revenue trends had shown intermittent increases but not a sustained upward trajectory and that the district had deliberately budgeted conservatively. After discussion the board voted to approve the revision; a motion carried and roll call showed Allen voting yes as part of the affirmative tally.
