Evanston Township High School to Shift Data Reporting to Annual Review plus Quarterly Dashboards

Evanston Township High School District 202 officials told the board of education on Oct. 6 that the district will change how it delivers performance data: a single comprehensive annual “year in review” presented once each fall and quarterly dashboards showing current performance during the school year.
The change is intended to stop the current pattern of receiving disparate reports spread through the year — such as discipline and advanced placement results arriving late in the academic calendar — and to give the board “current actionable data for more effective decision making in real time,” Superintendent Dr. Davis said during the data-preview discussion.
District staff described the new model as two coordinated components. The annual report will present a full historical baseline for the prior school year (the board was told the first such comprehensive report will present school-year 2024–25 data at the November board meeting). Quarterly dashboards will be produced at the end of each quarter and will include cumulative metrics such as attendance and discipline and more frequently updated items for monitoring.
“Instead of spending board time reviewing old historical data, we will be leveraging current actionable data,” Dr. Davis said, explaining the rationale for separating the year‑in‑review from ongoing performance monitoring.
Director Carrie Levy outlined which measures will appear where: the annual review will combine data that formerly appeared across separate reports (attendance, freshman‑on‑track indicators, GPA, discipline, literacy and other school reports) and align each metric to district goals; quarterly dashboards will carry current performance metrics and cumulative measures such as attendance and discipline. Levy said the district is also adjusting its method for estimating chronic absenteeism to align more closely with the Illinois State Board of Education approach, accounting for entry date and days enrolled.
Board members asked for clarity on timing and accessibility. Officials said the annual report and the first quarter dashboard will be presented at the November board meeting and posted to the district website. Dr. Davis and Levy invited board feedback as staff finalize formats and measures.
The board did not take formal action on the reporting change at the meeting; staff described the presentation as preparatory for the November report.
