The Town Council of the Town of Indian River Shores on Sept. 16 adopted a tentative aggregate millage rate of 1.281 mills per $1,000 of taxable value and approved a tentative general fund budget of $10,430,738 for fiscal year 2025-26 (Oct. 1, 2025–Sept. 30, 2026).
The tentative levy and budget were approved by roll-call votes after the town attorney read two proposed resolutions: Resolution 25-09 adopting the tentative levy and Resolution 25-10 adopting the tentative budget. Council members present voted unanimously in favor; no council member registered a nay or abstention.
The town reported that the tentative millage of 1.281 is 4.51% higher than the rollback rate of 1.2257. Council members noted the general fund budget amount is 3.77% lower than the prior year. The council also tentatively set other fund amounts: roads and off-state drainage fund at $114,200; solid waste special assessment fund at $337,329; and planning, zoning and building fund at $955,876.
There was no substantive council discussion recorded on the millage rate or fund amounts during the hearing, and no written public comments were received. At the time of the hearing, limited verbal public remarks praising staff were reported but no requests to speak on the budget items were logged.
Council member Dane was not initially present for the start of the meeting but arrived during the budget discussion; the clerk noted that his arrival changed the quorum and that the second budget hearing will require a supermajority vote to finalize levy and budget decisions.
The resolutions adopted at the hearing are tentative; state law and town procedures provide for a subsequent final adoption after required public notice and the second budget hearing. The town attorney read the full resolution titles into the record during the meeting.
