Wayne County commissioners approve consent items, economic-development deal and school land purchase

The Wayne County Board of Commissioners approved a series of consent items and discrete actions during its Oct. 21, 2025 meeting in Goldsboro, including budget amendments, two farm leases, an economic-development agreement for two shell buildings at Park East Industrial Park and the purchase of 56 acres adjoining Bridals (Bridal) Primary School.

The board voted 6-0 to approve the Oct. 21 minutes. The board then approved the adjusted Oct. 21 agenda and later approved the consent agenda, which included a package of budget amendments (listed below), late property-tax exemption applications and other routine items. Commissioner Barbara Aycock made the motion to approve the minutes; the minutes vote was recorded as 6-0 in the public record.

Why it matters: The consent agenda bundles routine but legally required items (payroll realignments, grant appropriations, and property exemptions) and enables the county to implement budget and personnel changes and to move forward with economic development projects without separate votes for each minor item.
