District recognizes community partners and internships that expanded student career experiences

Franklin Public School District staff recognized several community partners on Oct. 8 for providing internships, apprenticeships and supports that expanded student career pathways.
Mr. Thompson (district staff) told the board that partnerships with the Franklin Fire Department, the health department, Ascension and local businesses produced hands-on training and internships for students. He said three students completed an intern program with the fire department and that the health department hosted students to learn about public health operations. He thanked Ascension for hosting a consolidated orientation evening last fall — offering TB tests, facility tours and an orientation with WCTC in one session — which, Thompson said, reduced paperwork and made compliance steps easier for students and families.
Thompson also recognized CR Industries for providing a welding/engineering youth apprentice placement and said the district planned to present a certificate to the business for that partnership.
Board members and district staff present thanked partner representatives who attended. The superintendent’s remarks reinforced that experiential learning and local internships increase student confidence and career readiness. No formal board action or new funding was requested during the recognition.
