The moratorium, which had been in place for about six to seven months, applied to residential rezoning and subdivisions (not to single‑family homes). The board opened a public hearing and recorded no public speakers on the question; the hearing was then closed.
One commissioner said the county is working through comprehensive‑plan and land‑use‑ordinance updates and was not inclined to extend the moratorium, noting staff and the board had made substantial changes informed by a public questionnaire that returned about 1,300 responses. After discussion, Commissioner Sauer moved to end the moratorium; Commissioner Turquette seconded. The chair said, “I’ll vote with a yay and that’ll pass 3 to 1.” The motion passed 3‑1, and the moratorium was lifted.
Board remarks indicated the county will continue work on the comprehensive plan and land‑use ordinance revisions while accepting new subdivision rezoning applications going forward.
