Coconino County supervisors voted unanimously Oct. 14 to remove Bruce Sobchak as a member of the local Workforce Development Board, citing the member's alleged failure to meet responsibilities under the board's shared governance agreement and bylaws.
During an executive session earlier in the meeting, staff and legal counsel provided the board with advice related to Workforce Development Board bylaws. At the open meeting the board proceeded to a recorded motion to remove Mr. Sobchak "effective immediately," citing specific bylaw provisions in the motion. The motion as read referenced Section 1(b)(6) and Article 2, Section 2(f)(1) of the Coconino County Workforce Development Board bylaws as the authority for the removal.
Supervisor Geronimo Vasquez made the motion to remove the member and Supervisor Tammy Ontiveros seconded. The board voted unanimously in the public meeting to adopt the removal; no supervisors abstained and no public board discussion expanded on the written motion after the vote.
Ending
County staff will implement the board's action; removal is effective immediately and staff will process any necessary administrative steps to reflect the vacancy on the local Workforce Development Board.
