Garland Parks Foundation schedules Holford fundraiser May 17 to benefit Buddy League

Board members heard from the Garland Parks Foundation about an upcoming fundraising event at Holford Recreation Center on May 17 with a rain date of May 18. The foundation asked for board support for a silent auction, general‑admission and VIP ticket sales and in‑kind donations.

Staff and a foundation representative said the VIP area will serve mocktails (no alcohol), the rec center staff will participate as a venue preview as facilities finish moving in, and event features will include a silent auction and raffle items such as memberships to the rec center. The foundation noted noon Exchange Club will provide water and that some food will be available. The foundation asked anyone with auction items to contact Jason Aguirre or send email to the foundation.

The foundation said proceeds are earmarked for the Buddy League. Board members responded with logistical questions about ticketing and drop‑off of auction items and were invited to view event swag and the foundation’s web presence (garlandparksfoundation.org). The board encouraged members to attend Build Garland Day and other Holford openings as additional opportunities to see the new facility.
