City staff presented grant agreements under the Forward Together program — a May 2024 mayoral initiative funded from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) interest earnings — and the Board of Public Works voted to approve the 18 grant agreements.
The forward together grant program made $500,000 in ARPA interest funds available to organizations working on neighborhood strengthening and pathways out of poverty. Staff said the city received 79 applications and awarded 18 grants in December, with a $35,000 maximum award per organization. City Council appropriated the awards on March 31. City staff told the board the grants must be spent this year.
Bridal Leary, identified in the meeting as an affairs director for Mayor Terry, presented the agreements to the board and said the signed grant agreements were what the board was being asked to approve. The board approved the agreements by voice vote.
