"Our L G B T K. A community has always been an equitable part of our city fabric," Mayor Ed Gainey said, urging unity and action.

City officials framed the session as both a status update and an explanation of options for residents who experience discrimination inside Pittsburgh city limits. Adrianna Brannon, the mayor's inclusion, diversity, equity and access manager and LGBTQIA liaison, said Pittsburgh has made several administrative and policy changes intended to preserve local protections even if state or federal rules change. "We are a sanctuary city for gender affirming care," Brannon said, describing the administration's intent to deprioritize enforcement of outside laws that would criminalize gender-affirming health care when the city can do so.
