A council member moved to approve the consent agenda and the motion carried unanimously.
Proclamations: The council approved multiple proclamations recognizing community observances and local initiatives; votes were unanimous on each. Items adopted by proclamation included: - National Library Week (April 6–12, 2025) - Mayor’s Monarch Pledge Day (April 1, 2025) - Food Waste Prevention Week (April 7–13, 2025) - Earth Day (April 22, 2025) - Arbor Day (April 25, 2025 — 30th anniversary celebration in Lafayette) - Kids Day America (May 17, 2025)
Each proclamation was moved, seconded and approved without recorded opposition. Several council members and guests made brief remarks in support of the proclamations; Michelle Green spoke about the May 17 Kids Day America event and provided event details and contact information.
Executive session motions: Council voted unanimously on three motions to adjourn into executive session under Colorado statute for the specified purposes: (1) confer with the city attorney on legal questions regarding state preemption and the city's home-rule authority to regulate zoning and land use (C.R.S. §24-6-402(4)(b)); (2) develop negotiation strategy and instruct negotiators regarding an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Lafayette, Town of Erie, and the Erie Urban Renewal Authority (statutory citation referenced in the record); and (3) consider the potential acquisition of a parcel or parcels on North Public Road in Old Town and develop negotiating strategy and instructions for negotiators (statutory citations referenced in the record).
