Bay County officials and consultants presented a draft master plan for the former Majette golf-course site on Jan. 16, outlining recreational uses across roughly 400 acres and directing staff to refine the plan based on public and board input.
The draft, presented by consultant Ray Greer with landscape architect Jeremy Floyd, summarized results of a Jan. 16 public workshop that Greer said drew 82 sign-ins and produced 195 suggested ideas. Greer said the draft groups suggestions into 14 categories and maps preferred locations for features including trails, disc golf, a pump track, mountain-bike routes, multiuse fields, an indoor recreation facility, picnic and farmers-market space and a possible 5–6–hole practice golf area.
The plan matters because the property sits near fast-growing residential developments and could provide active and passive recreation for new neighborhoods, county staff said. Greer said the site’s landfill cover and ponding create engineering constraints that will affect where buildings and heavy-improvement features can be placed.
