Supervisors introduce contractor construction-parking plan ordinance to reduce neighborhood impacts

The legislation requires a construction parking plan for any temporary street occupancy permit that requests more than one parking space for three or more months. "This legislation requires contractors to begin to think strategically about what parking they really need," Supervisor Cohen said, noting neighborhood concerns in Southeast San Francisco where construction is intense. Supervisor Farrell said the ordinance will improve transparency and allow residents to better hold contractors accountable.

The measure was introduced for committee review; supervisors thanked DPW and SFMTA for consultation. The text requires the construction parking plan as a prerequisite to receiving on-street parking permits and includes enforcement language for returning unused spaces to public use by late afternoon.
