The Guadalupe City Council unanimously approved its consent calendar at the April 8 regular meeting after a member asked to pull the warrants list for clarification.
Council members first approved the consent calendar with the exception of warrants (identified as item B). After a short discussion about the warrants invoice, council then approved the pulled item. The clerk recorded the votes as “all ayes” on both motions.
Council member questions focused on a line in the warrants showing an invoice identified as for “fire” that appeared to pay for a 2025 Ford police outfitting (sirens and radar equipment). Finance and police staff explained that the “fire” note on the invoice was an accounts-payable routing note and that the cost is coded to the police department (account 4200) for vehicle outfitting. Police staff said the outfitting covered sirens and related equipment for three or four vehicles that had been on backlog for about two years.
No additional fiscal action was taken at the meeting beyond the consent votes. Council did not identify any dissenting votes on the motions.
Votes at a glance - Motion to approve consent calendar excluding warrants (item B): approved; recorded as unanimous (“all ayes”). - Motion to approve warrants (item B): approved; recorded as unanimous (“all ayes”).
Staff and council members indicated they will continue to monitor expenditures and line-item coding in future warrants reports.
