Port Arthur council hears detailed update on trash service; contractors, new equipment and master plan cited as fixes

Port Arthur City Council members and residents spent the largest portion of the meeting on an extensive update from the Solid Waste Division about persistent trash-collection delays and illegal dumping.
The Solid Waste presentation, led by the city's workforce and public-works staff, said service reliability has been affected by equipment breakdowns, staffing shortages and worker fatigue. "We remain committed to delivering reliable, efficient, and responsive services and want to assure our citizens that we are working diligently towards sustainable and lasting improvements," the presentation said.
