The Carroll County Board of Supervisors approved a motion to outfit two new snow‑plow trucks with boxes, hydraulics, sanders and related snow equipment at a cost of $232,746.60.
Zach, speaking for Secondary Roads, said the quotes cover parts only and that county crews will perform installation. “This is all the parts that they build for us, but we attach everything and build a hydraulic system and put it all together, basically,” Zach said. He added that using the same brand and configuration makes parts and attachments interchangeable among county vehicles and simplifies maintenance.
The county discussed lead times and timing: some components could arrive in roughly two months and others in up to six months; the new trucks are expected in July and the department planned to build and outfit them during the fall or winter. Zach said old attachments are retained for spare parts but generally cannot be reused on a new chassis.
A motion to approve the $232,746.60 expenditure was made and seconded; the board carried the motion by voice vote. County staff noted the purchase is in the fiscal 2026 budget and that installation timelines and parts availability will determine exact build timing.
The board also received a broader Secondary Roads update elsewhere on the agenda covering crack filling, HMA resurfacing, milling reuse and bridge preconstruction; Zach said resurfacing work was scheduled to start the following week, with milling and base widening to follow.
