Prospective restaurateurs outline plan for 3,000-square-foot Asian fusion restaurant in Argyle

During the meeting’s open forum, Tran and her husband Justin told the Argyle Municipal Development District they plan to open an Asian fusion restaurant in the Argyle area and asked whether the MDD could provide help with the build-out.

“My name is Tran. And this is my husband, Justin. We're planning to open an Asian fusion restaurant… It's gonna be roughly around 3,000 square feet, and we will have an outdoor patio seating area that will, we're planning to have, the bar access from the patio and inside the restaurant,” Tran said.

Tran said the couple live locally, have children and already run a business; they described a family-friendly concept that would also serve as a “fun date night” option. She said they work with local schools through charity events and would plan to give a percentage back to Argyle schools as part of community engagement and fundraising.

Tran said local contractor Brandon Bowes (referenced in the presentation) would build the restaurant, and the couple asked whether the MDD could provide any assistance to help make the build-out “as beautiful as possible.”

Board members thanked the couple for bringing the proposal and suggested they bring questions and materials to staff (Harrison) to discuss incentives, permitting and other steps. No formal MDD action or commitment was made during the open forum.

The remarks were informational and recorded as part of the public comment portion of the meeting; staff advised the prospective owners to work with staff on next steps and any formal application for MDD assistance.
