Vacaville parks: citywide playground cleaning, targeted equipment replacements; graffiti abatement policy reiterated

“We're replacing playground equipment and accessories that have been showing signs of excessive wear,” Wallace said, adding that many Vacaville play structures are approaching a 20‑year life cycle and staff are focusing on smaller‑scale replacements to delay full replacements.
Wallace described a routine maintenance schedule that includes an annual power‑wash and playground inspections every two weeks for safety and minor repairs. He said full‑scale playground replacements are performed by contract; targeted element replacements are done in‑house to extend lifecycle and save costs.
On graffiti, Wallace said the parks division aims for a 24‑hour response window for abatement of reported graffiti that is vulgar in nature, though weekend reporting or other timing issues can delay removal. “When graffiti is reported, we have a...24 hour response window, especially for graffiti that is vulgar in nature,” he said.
Park planner Nemo Gonzalez confirmed Mariposa Park’s new play structure and off‑leash dog area are open to the public; staff have posted a banner and done social media outreach even though the dog area is not highly visible from the street.
