Mississippi House adopts multiple conference reports; approves public-adjuster rules and property cleanup fund

The Mississippi House of Representatives on Tuesday adopted a series of conference reports and final bills, approving new licensing requirements for public adjusters, creating a property cleanup revolving fund for municipalities, and clearing multiple tax and bond measures.

Lawmakers moved quickly through the calendar, taking several items en bloc and approving individual conference reports after brief explanations from bill sponsors. Representative Turner explained the conference report for the public-adjuster bill, describing new license requirements, while Representative Crudup outlined the property cleanup revolving fund for municipalities.

The public-adjuster conference report (House Report 1174) requires additional licensure conditions and financial-responsibility documentation for public adjusters, including a requirement that an applicant demonstrate financial responsibility by having “an irrevocable letter of credit, a line of credit, or a bond for not less than $50,000,” according to Representative Turner.
