Staff reported that the city passed its first comprehensive safety policy in February and has since conducted two citywide safety audits — one internal audit in July and a follow-up audit in December with a representative from the state workers' compensation fund (SIF). Staff said the SIF representative identified items for improvement and the safety committee reviewed and recommended the proposed updates.
Council moved to adopt the resolution as presented and the motion passed. Staff said the updates reflect audit findings and will be implemented across departments with training for employees on job responsibilities and safety compliance.
