Council reports closed-session vote to discharge city legal counsel; 3–2 vote announced
Summary

At the Sept. 16 meeting the mayor reported out of the council’s closed session that the council voted to terminate the city’s legal services contract with Schut, Mahali and Weinberger.
Mayor Brownstone said the council “has voted to discharge our legal firm, Schut, Mahali and Weinberger. We're grateful for, their years of service with us.” The mayor reported the decision passed on a 3–2 vote and noted that he and Councilmember Ken Rose voted no. The mayor also said the firm’s services will cease 90 days after the signing of the notice of discharge.
