Council approves Paul Street pocket-park event and limited street closure for Oct. 25

The council approved a request to close a short portion of Paul Street on Oct. 25, 2025, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and to close the adjacent Paul Street parking lot from noon Oct. 24 to noon Oct. 26 to accommodate a low-key community “pocket park” event and children’s activities.
Victor Marlon (staff) described plans to coordinate with local businesses and Seacoast Christian School to host inflatables, a petting zoo and games, and to convert the parking lot into temporary green space using existing materials and town furnishings. Organizers said the closure would be limited to roughly 300 to 400 feet between the Stage House entrance and Seacoast Christian School; traffic routes would allow vehicles to turn and exit nearby businesses.
Council modified the original motion to describe the closure precisely as “Paul Street between the entrances of the Stage House and Seacoast Christian School.” The motion passed unanimously. Organizers said there is no fee for small businesses or home occupations who want to set up a table; they will coordinate logistics and neighborhood outreach and work with police on enforcement of closures and vehicle removals if necessary.
