The Medford School Committee gave a first reading to a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) policy and sent it on for further review after members amended the document to address concerns including data privacy, citation expectations, bias, environmental impacts and staff training.
The first reading of the policy (2025-27) was approved 6–1 on roll call after more than an hour of discussion in which members, administrators and students raised questions about how GenAI tools should be used, how usage should be recorded, and what supports teachers need to implement the guidance.
