Board OKs first Westman Park restroom using bond funds; permanent restrooms to follow

The Evansville City Board of Park Commissioners approved a services agreement with Morley and Associates to build a small permanent restroom inside the fenced Westman playground, funded by previously authorized bonds.
Danielle, Parks Department staff, said the bond allocation included funding for two restrooms and this is the first. The approved facility is described as “a very basic, 2 unisex stall restroom with a water fountain,” located inside the new Wesselman playground area. Danielle said underground utilities were already installed during earlier work and the fence will be extended slightly to accommodate the structure.
Danielle said the larger restroom renovation for West Lemons Park, which would replace the existing restroom with a larger family restroom to serve the entire park, will be a separate, later project likely requiring additional funding and will be brought back before the board.
Board members approved the Morley and Associates agreement. Staff said permanent restrooms will replace some porta-potties except during large events such as Fiesta Evansville when additional temporary facilities will still be required. The board recorded the vote and the motion carried.
