The council agreed Wednesday to lay over a resolution that would establish a City Council Public Safety and Community Wellness Committee.
Council Member Bowie introduced the resolution but said the draft language remains in progress and asked to move the item to a date when all council members could be present. Bowie said the committee would provide a forum for council members to receive updates and presentations on public safety matters and that the resolution language would be refined in collaboration with city departments and subject-matter experts.
The council voted 5-0 to lay the resolution over to April 9 so members can consider a revised version. Bowie said the item is still in draft form and she will introduce a version at a later date; Vice President Kim confirmed a version will be presented next week.
No vote was taken on the committee’s membership or scope on Wednesday; the item will return for further consideration with more complete language.
